Welcome to ALC in Action, an occasional message from American Lending Center highlighting the people, partnerships, and ideas that strengthen our communities.
Last week, we welcomed Irvine Police Department Officer Jordan Liu at our ALC Partners gathering for a discussion about what it takes to build and sustain one of Americaโs safest cities. Beyond practical safety tips, the conversation offered valuable insights into the role that community engagement, trust, and shared responsibility play in public safety.
ALCโs headquarters are in Irvine, and we work hard to partner with public and private entities to make our community a better place to live and work. What better partnership could there be than with the people charged with keeping us safe?
Irvine prioritizes the safety of its residents, and it has worked. Irvine has been recognized for an amazing 21 years in a row as the Safest City in America for cities with populations of more than 250,000 people. That success continues today โ violent crimes decreased by 12% compared to 2024, and property theft dropped by 10% in the same period. Maintaining that success requires a shared commitment to community safety and a trusting working relationship between residents and the police department. Not surprisingly, that concept of shared trust and responsibility is key to ALCโs efforts to strengthen the communities we serve.
People can help prevent crime from happening in the first place, easing the burden on police. Officer Liu also shared practical ways residents can reduce opportunities for crime, from securing homes during travel to protecting vehicles and personal property. These small, proactive steps help prevent incidents before they occur and contribute to the overall safety of the community.
Here at ALC, weโve learned that effective communication is essential to building strong partnerships. When residents understand how and when to engage with law enforcement, communities become more connected, responsive, and resilient.
Providing the information people need to stay informed and engaged is the focus of our ALC Partners program. By bringing together community leaders, subject matter experts, and community members, we help foster the relationship and shared understanding that strengthen the communities we serve.
It is ALC in Action.
