Welcome back to ALC in Action.
It was a red-letter day on June 20 in Bethany, Missouri, when the new Harrison County Community Hospital opened its doors to serve a large rural area between Kansas City and Des Moines. And ALC was there, represented by Jayro Sandoval, ALC’s Director of Business Development.
Harrison County Community Hospital District operates a 19-bed Critical Access Hospital, a five-bed Emergency Department, a swing bed program, and primary care clinics serving the communities of Bethany and Eagleville. When the hospital district there decided in 2024 to replace its 1955 hospital, American Lending Center stepped up to complete the financing stack for the $52 million, two-year construction project.
American Lending Center provided $10.4 million in EB-5 financing to help complete the project’s capital stack. Bringing state-of-the-art healthcare to rural America closely aligned with ALC’s mission of supporting underserved communities through strategic investment and long-term economic development.
This two-year construction project created 477 jobs* in an area in need of employment. More importantly, the resulting modern hospital will provide great healthcare to a rural community for a long time to come.
In addition to the full-service emergency department and the acute care hospital facility, the new Harrison County Hospital has expanded surgical areas and dedicated outpatient specialty clinics where people can get treatment otherwise unavailable without a long trip.
ALC has had the honor of assisting several rural hospital replacement or reconstruction projects across the country. We typically partner with government agencies to complete construction financing – a good example of our Public-Private Partnership (P3) approach to improving communities. In Bethany, the USDA Rural Development program was the public partner with a large, guaranteed loan.
Sandoval said it was clear residents of Bethany and the surrounding area were excited about the new hospital.
“It was a tremendous event with strong attendance from community, state, and federal leaders,” Sandoval said. “The new hospital is a transformative investment in rural healthcare and the communities it serves. I’m proud to represent ALC as a participating lender on such an impactful project.”
