American Lending Center, Sunstone Management Founder John Shen Nominated For Golden Hub Of Innovation Award

GARDEN GROVE – John Shen has been nominated by Irvine Mayor Farrah Khan to receive a Golden Hub of Innovation Award from the Association of California Cities-Orange County.

Shen is the founder of American Lending Center and Sunstone Management, Inc., both headquartered in Irvine. He also is the CEO of American Lending Center. He was nominated in the Collaborative Community Development & Innovation category for his role in launching the effort to create the Irvine Accelerator.

Shen was a founding member of Mayor Khan’s Innovation Council, which developed a strategic and action plan for attracting, retaining and supporting high-growth technology businesses.

“I am enthusiastic about the public-private partnership established between our City and Sunstone Management, stemming from the initiatives of my Innovation Council,” Mayor Khan said. “Together, we are facilitating opportunities for Irvine residents to access the necessary support and resources to materialize their business concepts.”

Sunstone and the City of Irvine have signed a letter of intent and started meeting with a committee of interested parties to create the Irvine Accelerator. A structure is expected to be established later this year.

Awards were handed out at the Associated Council of Cities-Orange County’s Leadership Summit Wednesday, May 8, at the Hyatt Regency in Garden Grove. The ACC-OC represents Orange County cities and public agencies on regional public policy issues, hosting workshops, conferences and more as well as advocating at the regional and state level.

Shen and the Irvine Accelerator initiative was acknowledged at the ceremony, but did not win the award.
